We visited the last Friday in April. To get there by the nine:30 opening, nosotros traveled by bus instead of driving from our hotel on Michigan Ave. because it was cheaper ($10 for both of us, round trip) than paying the $22 parking fee, plus we didn't have to drive. The #2 bus dropped united states of america off at 57th and Stoney Island Ave, which is only a cake west of the museum, to go back we took the #6 autobus, merely during the summer months, the #10 bus drops yous off right at the museum.

The exhibits were spectacular, I took the U-505 bout which was an extra $18 and took almost 1/2 hour, but our tornado motion-picture show within the giant dome theater was included upon our request as part of our CityPass access. The rocket and Apollo exhibits were outstanding, the transportation exhibits were nifty. I also enjoyed the farm tech exhibits, the extreme water ice displays, the 727 aeroplane exhibit, which you tin walk through and various other displays including the diverse shipping on display.

I did non go to encounter the coal mine or the Art of the Brick Gallery because they were extra add ons and I didn't take plenty time. Only, my wife saw the Coal Mine exhibit and enjoyed it. We were there all day until closing at 4pm and only took a 15 minute break to consume a snack and grab a cup of coffee. If I had some other 24-hour interval, I would have liked to come up back and meet more.

If you go, article of clothing comfortable shoes due to all the walking. Too, don't schedule besides many add on exhibits such as the Brick Gallery, U-boat tour, tornado pic, etc. or yous won't get to encounter the whole museum.

  • Beautiful views of the shoreline and city. Nosotros opted for a daytime view and it didn't disappoint. They have the tilt attraction- we didn't do information technology - just information technology looked similar the people who did enjoyed information technology.

  • Yes, we walked to the edible bean, just a few blocks from the river and easily accessible from the Loew's Hotel. Bang-up experience and fun place for a picnic.

Definitely stop by this park! Seeing Deject Gate and many other structures in the park is a must!

Be prepared to share the "spot calorie-free" with other eager tourists though!

And explore the balance of the park! There's many historical monuments and structures to explore!

  • This museum, which takes a total mean solar day to explore, has the best and largest exhibit of dinosaurs and other fossils I take always seen! All of the exhibits, and there are many other topics covered, with the exception of the gem exhibit, are all large, and well displayed. But back to the dinosaurs and fossils, not only is the display big, but it is divided by geologic periods, with summaries of how the globe changed from ane menses to the next, and how those climate and geological changes afflicted life on earth, both giving rising to and the demise of, various types of both plants and animals, until the modern historic period. For my taste, this is the all-time museum in Chicago, and several others are likewise good.

  • You tin can meet where this allure is heading. Once information technology becomes full of restaurants and shops, it will be very squeamish to visit.

Be sure to sign up for the complimentary public tour - definitely worth your fourth dimension. The building is merely cute!! Afterward the tour, we went to Pizano's Pizza.

    Admittedly loved this identify!

At that place are dissimilar environments continued past doors. Each 1 has a different theme. Plants and flowers are in great shape, evidently cared well.

The diversity of environments and colors is enjoyable.

There is also an area where yous tin can drink java and teas, and have good quality croissants and muffins. This was a cracking find.

Some of the areas accept pathways through the plants. Nicely done.

Reservations highly recommended at this time.

We visited the concluding Th of Apr and arrived at the opening time of 9am. the chief entrance facing west was airtight, so yous had to enter through the southern entrance - non certain why, but this could exist confusing. We used CityPass and we got right in with almost no delay. This enabled us to run across the 4d shark film at a pre-selected time which was included in the pass, We enjoyed the penguin showroom, the dolphin aquarium and the various, well maintained aquariums that displayed various aquatic environments around the world. Throughout the aquarium, there were many workers working on the aquariums while nosotros visited. Information technology'south an outstanding aquarium.

I didn't give it v stars because it got crowded quickly, too crowded, with numerous school busses dropping off a LOT of kids. Unfortunately, many of these kids were running effectually bumping into people, screaming and hollering, getting lost or just non listening to either chaperones or their parents. I had to lookout man every step I took so I wouldn't step on someone'due south child. I even saw one male chaperone (or male parent) running from the elevator yelling loudly for a lost child. Information technology was so loud with the kids yelling, I could barely hear my wife talk. My wife and I finished up our visit and left before noon, which included spending about 15-20 minutes in the gift shop. I wanted to stay a little longer, but it was no longer enjoyable. I should have brought my earplugs to drown out the noise.

My suggestions to this aquarium are every bit follows: one. Have an adult night, where only adults can visit the museum during evening hours such as 5 to 9pm - just with no kids. 2. Take more than detailed maps available to orient visitors around the aquarium to allow for more efficient viewing. 3. Railroad train staff/personnel to advise chaperones, parents of children to control the children with them or risk beingness asked to go out - either that, or limit the number of children with each adult. Nosotros paid practiced money for our visit and shouldn't have to have our enjoyment of this great aquarium diminished due to also many kids - some of which were unruly.

Lakefront Trail is an invaluable office of Chicago. It's great -- and gratis -- for anybody: pedestrians, joggers, walkers, cyclists. From the trail one tin can admire some fantastic scenic views of the gorgeous Lake Michigan and the unique Chicago Skyline, the exciting Chicago Lakefront, the grand and welcoming Navy Pier, and many other beautiful sites of this vibrant urban center.

In that location are some new improvements to Lakefront Trail: information technology has a new addition -- the Navy Pier Flyover (constructed in 2014 -- 2021), which provides the separation of bicyclists from pedestrians in a very busy function of the urban center, that very often has traffic congestion in the area close to Navy Pier. For all visitors, and especially skaters and bicyclists I would recommend to study the current trail map and its regulations, condom instructions, etc. The trail is well-marked, has some very detailed info boards , and of course, there's much online info available, as well.

Lakefront Trail stretches for 18,5 miles along the western shore of Lake Michigan, and goes quite a way parallel to Lake Shore Drive. The lawns, and some big city parks along the trail length, are nicely landscaped and well maintained.

My friends and I have enjoyed our last visit to Lakefront Trail, as we always do!
